Workplace Needs Assessments

I hold an OCN Workplace Needs Certificate and I offer workplace needs assessments for adults who experience challenges in their role due to learning differences, neurodiversity, physical difficulties, or health conditions. A workplace needs assessment focuses on identifying practical adjustments and strategies to support effective working, confidence, wellbeing and productivity.

These assessments are suitable for employees, self‑employed individuals and employers, and are often used to support Access to Work applications or workplace reasonable adjustments.  Workplace needs assessments are usually completed online or in person, at my home in Corston, near Bath. A workplace visit can be considered by arrangement, subject to a travel fee of 55p per mile from Corston.

Cost

  • Workplace Needs Assessment £500+VAT (£600 in total)

A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required to confirm a booking and the rest is payable before the day of the assessment.

Please review my availability and book an assessment.

What is a Workplace Needs Assessment?

A workplace needs assessment is a structured assessment designed to identify barriers an individual may experience at work and recommend appropriate adjustments to reduce or remove those barriers.

Unlike diagnostic assessments, a workplace needs assessment does not provide a diagnosis. Instead, it focuses on understanding functional difficulties in the workplace and offering clear, practical recommendations that can be implemented by the individual, employer or through Access to Work.

Who is a Workplace Needs Assessment For?

A workplace needs assessment may be helpful if you are an adult who:

  • Experiences difficulties with organisation, time management or workload management

  • Finds reading, writing, memory or processing demands challenging at work

  • Struggles with concentration, fatigue or sensory demands in the workplace

  • Has a learning difference, disability or health condition that impacts your role

  • Is applying for or has been awarded Access to Work support

  • Requires evidence to support workplace reasonable adjustments

You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from a workplace needs assessment.

What does a Workplace Needs Assessment Involve?

  • The assessment involves a detailed discussion focusing on your role, working environment, strengths and challenges. This may include:

  • Your job role and responsibilities

  • Tasks you find challenging and those you manage well

  • Workplace demands, environment and support structures

  • Strategies you currently use

  • Identification of barriers affecting performance or wellbeing

  • Assessments can be completed online or in person, depending on your preference and needs.

What will I receive?

Following the assessment, you will receive a written workplace needs report that includes:

  • A summary of your role and working context

  • Identification of strengths and areas of difficulty

  • Practical, tailored recommendations for workplace adjustments

  • Strategies to support effectiveness, wellbeing and confidence at work

  • Where appropriate, recommendations suitable for Access to Work

Reports are written clearly and professionally and can be shared with employers or Access to Work where required.

Access to Work

Workplace needs assessments can support both new and existing Access to Work applications. The recommendations focus on practical adjustments and strategies that can help you carry out your role more effectively.

If you are unsure whether a workplace needs assessment is appropriate for your situation, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss this before booking.

Workplace support and coaching

Following a workplace needs assessment, I offer one-to-one support and coaching sessions for the individual to help implement recommendations effectively within their role.  Coaching sessions are charge at £100 for an hour session.

These sessions provide the opportunity to explore strategies in more detail, develop practical approaches to support organisation, communication and workload management, and build confidence in applying adjustments within day-to-day work.

Support and coaching is tailored to the individual and may include reviewing strategies, adapting approaches over time and addressing any challenges that arise following implementation.

Where appropriate, additional input can also be provided to support managers or teams in understanding and applying recommendations effectively.
